William Seth Terry A RESOLUTION
HONORING THE LIFE OF
WILLIAM SETH TERRY
WHEREAS Dr. William Seth Terry, born in Jefferson, Texas, on December 4, 1910, and who departed this life on April 11, 2004 was a longtime friend, member, and supporter of the East Texas Historical Association, and devoted to history and historical preservation in his native East Texas; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Terry, a graduate of Texas A&M University and Tulane University School of Medicine, served his residency Charity Hospital in Shreveport, and practiced medicine in Jefferson for sixty-two years, from 1938 to 2000; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Terry’s devotion to medicine and the welfare of his patients led him to practice with an “old-fashioned” commitment and to serve as a friend, confidant, and counselor to his patients as well as their physician; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Terry, who supported his wife, Lucille Morgan Terry, in her work with the East Texas Historical Association and with her efforts in historical preservation through the Lucille Terry Historical Preservation Award, sponsored jointly by the Association and the Texas Forestry Museum ; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Terry was active in Jefferson as a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church and the Jefferson Rotary Club, and served the City of Jefferson as its representative on the Northeast Texas Municipal Water District;
BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED, that the membership of the East Texas Historical Association laments the passing of this “good and faithful servant” on April 11, 2004, extends sympathy to his family and friends; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this resolution be spread upon the minutes of the Annual Meeting and another presented as is appropriate to the family of Dr. William Seth Terry, that they may know of the affection, and esteem in which he is yet held by all.
