A RESOLUTION HONORING THE LIFE OF

Ralph William Goodwin

WHEREAS Ralph William Goodwin, born on June 5, 1928 in Ponca City, Oklahoma, departed from this life on November 16, 2008 in Dallas, Texas; and

WHEREAS Ralph William Goodwin, attended University of Oklahoma and Harvard University; and received his B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. in History; and

WHEREAS, Ralph William Goodwin served his country as a member of the U.S. Army; and

WHEREAS, Ralph William Goodwin taught American history at Texas A&M University-Commerce, in September 1960 and retired as a professor emeritus in 1998; and

WHEREAS, Ralph William Goodwin was a good friend and long-time supporter of the East Texas Historical Association;

BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED, that the membership of the East Texas Historical Association laments the passing of this "good and faithful servant" on November 16, 2008, extends sympathy to his family and friends; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this resolution be spread upon the minutes of the Annual Meeting and another presented as is appropriate to the family of Ralph William Goodwin, that they may know of the love and esteem in which he is yet held by all.
