A RESOLUTION HONORING THE LIFE OF
Thomas Jackson Stanly
WHEREAS Thomas Jackson Stanly, born in Leesville, Louisiana, on August 8, 1926, departed from this life on August 30, 2009 in Nacogdoches, Texas; and
WHEREAS Thomas Jackson Stanly, attended Louisiana State University; and received his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D.; and
WHEREAS, Thomas Jackson Stanly served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy; and
WHEREAS, Thomas Jackson Stanly taught Agricultural Education for forty-three years at Louisiana State University, Nicholls State University and Stephen F. Austin State University; and
WHEREAS, Thomas Jackson Stanly was an avid supporter of agriculture by his activities with the U.S. Department of Agriculture and his involvement with the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo; and
WHEREAS, Thomas Jackson Stanly was a good friend and long-time supporter of the East Texas Historical Association;
BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED, that the membership of the East Texas Historical Association laments the passing of this "good and faithful servant" on August 30, 2009, extends sympathy to his family and friends; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this resolution be spread upon the minutes of the Annual Meeting and another presented as is appropriate to the family of Thomas Jackson Stanly, that they may know of the love and esteem in which he is yet held by all.
