2026 Texas New Deal Symposium
CALL FOR PAPERS – The Texas New Deal Symposium & The East Texas Historical Association invite proposals for papers to be presented at 10th Annual Texas New Deal Symposium hosted by Prairie View A&M University in Prairie View on June 20, 2026.
Topics covering cultural, social, and historical subjects pertinent to the Great Depression and the New Deal Era, broadly defined, germane to Texas are invited to apply. Presentations should run fifteen to twenty minutes. One featured speaker may run up to thirty minutes, if the committee approves such an application.
Proposals should include the name of the presenter, title of the paper, and a one paragraph summary of what the paper will cover.
Due Date for Submissions – January 31, 2026
Presenters will be notified of acceptance by February 28, 2026.

The East Texas Historical Association invites proposals for papers, sessions, roundtables, and poster sessions for its 2025 annual fall meeting to be held in Nacogdoches, Texas, from Thursday, October 2 through Saturday, October 4, 2025. The host hotel for the meeting is the historic Fredonia Hotel & Conference Center.The program committee supports topics that cover all aspects of East Texas regional history, including, but not limited to, social, economic, political, cultural, preservation, and material culture, along with topics that address Texas history generally but are aligned to East Texas. We hope to receive sessions that are focused on a wide area of inquiry about East Texas history from teaching and curriculum, historiography, biographical, underrepresented regional communities, literature, publishing, and historical consciousness in a new century.
